Construction sites
The contractor's schedule comes from elsewhere, and you are the one who has to meet it.
What usually happens
The master schedule is produced by the supervisor, in Project or in P6. It arrives by e-mail, as an attachment. Nobody on site has the software, and the company will not buy it to read one file a month.
So the site manager redraws it by hand, in a spreadsheet, to get the three-week look-ahead out of it. What is redrawn goes stale the moment the next revision arrives.
What Klargantt changes
- The file opens in the site office browser, with nothing to install.
- The three-week look-ahead comes straight out of the schedule received, and is reprinted at every revision.
- The Gantt chart as a PDF goes up to A0, for the site office wall.
- The workbook goes into the tracking table, with real dates.
- Comparing two versions says what moved between yesterday's revision and today's.
What it does not replace
- Site reporting. What the schedule says and what happened on site are two different things.
- Coordination. Klargantt assigns nothing to anyone and sends no notification.
- The site manager's judgement. The tool gives numbers; the decision stays on site.
