Public holidays and work calendars

Drop the schedule: the calendars it contains are read in full, with their work weeks, dated exceptions and public holidays. The recalculation uses them, task by task.

When to use it

Two schedules give different dates for the same duration, and the reason is in the calendars.

Or a task falls on a long weekend, an August shutdown, a holiday week declared by the client.

What this page does

  • The standard week of each calendar, with its working hours day by day.
  • Dated exceptions: non-working days, exceptional working days, special hours.
  • Resource calendars, which take precedence over the task's calendar when the resource has one.
  • Inheritance between calendars: a derived calendar takes what its parent says, and changes only what it declares.
  • Everything is computed in local hours and minutes, never in millisecond differences: a clock change moves nothing.

What it does not do: Klargantt applies the calendars found in the file. It does not add any, and it does not impose French public holidays on a schedule that does not declare them. A missing calendar is reported by the quality check, not silently replaced.

What is read

  • Project XML calendars: WeekDays, WorkWeeks, Exceptions, and derived calendars.
  • Primavera P6 calendars, read from the compact string P6 writes into the XER.
  • Public holidays declared in a .gan.

No file is uploaded: the schedule is read by your browser, in this tab, and the page is not allowed to open a connection to any other site.

Frequently asked questions

Does Klargantt know French public holidays?
It can compute them, Easter included, but it does not impose them: the file's calendars are what count. A schedule that declares no holiday at all is reported by the quality check.
What about clock changes?
The whole engine works on local components (year, month, day, hour, minute), never on millisecond differences. A 23-hour or 25-hour night moves no task.
Does a resource calendar override the task's?
Yes, when the resource declares one. The order is: exception, then work week, then weekday, then base calendar.
