Klargantt

Engineering and design offices

The client works in Primavera. You receive XER files, and you have to answer.

What usually happens

On large projects the reference schedule lives in Primavera P6. The contractor receives an XER at every update, often monthly, sometimes with a fortnight to reply.

Primavera P6 may exist somewhere in the group, but not on the machine of the person who has to read the file today.

What Klargantt changes

  • The XER opens without Primavera, with its activities, its breakdown structure, its relationships and its calendars.
  • The critical path is recalculated, and shown beside what the file stored.
  • The quality check runs the schedule through the 14 DCMA points, which many contracts require.
  • The comparison says what changed since the previous version, including between an XER and a Project XML.

What it does not do

  • Klargantt does not write XER files back. The return trip goes through Project XML, a workbook or a CSV.
  • P6 activity codes and user-defined fields are not used.
  • No delay analysis is produced: differences are given, attributing them stays expert work.
