Compare two versions of a schedule
Drop two versions of the same schedule: the tasks are matched, then the differences are listed. Additions, removals, renames, date shifts, duration and link changes.

Check what each column holds before reading. A table read wrong does not show: it gives a plausible schedule that is false.

Comparison with another version
The open file is the earlier version. Drop the version to compare.
When to use it
The contractor sends their monthly update, and someone has to say what changed since the previous one.
Or a claim rests on a revised schedule, and what was moved has to be found again.
Or you want to check that a revision touched only what it said it would.
What this page does
- Tasks are matched in three passes: by identifier, then by path in the work breakdown structure, then by likeness.
- Likeness combines the name, the duration and the position: "Foundations" and "Foundations (redone)" find each other, without confusing two tasks with the same name.
- Each difference states its nature, its size, and how the match was made.
- Added and removed tasks are listed separately from changed ones.
What it does not do: The comparison gives differences, never the cause and never the responsibility. It does not say whether a delay is anyone's fault: delay analysis is expert work, not a tool output.
What is read
- Two schedule files, in any of the formats read, including two different formats.
No file is uploaded: the schedule is read by your browser, in this tab, and the page is not allowed to open a connection to any other site.
Frequently asked questions
- How are tasks recognised from one version to the next?
- First by their identifier, when it is stable. Otherwise by their path in the work breakdown structure. Otherwise by likeness, and the method used is written next to each match.
- Can I compare an XER with a Project XML?
- Yes. Both are brought to the same model before the comparison.
- Does the tool say who is responsible for the delay?
- No. It gives the differences, with numbers and dates. The conclusion stays yours.
